Use

In times of water scarcity the stored buffer can be used for irrigation cattle drinking or industrial use. In addition to efficient collection and storage, Dynamic Water Systems offer efficient user options. Efficient use of irrigation water creates the optimal growth conditions for your crops.

Drip irrigation

Drip irrigation distinguishes itself with a high return per drop of water. The water directly meets its goal; the root zone. Combined irrigation and fertigation is possible with the use of drip lines. The water and fertilizers directly reach the root zone and are immediately absorbable.

Drip irrigation has multiple benefits:

  • Efficient use of irrigation water;
  • Creation of optimal soil conditions for the crop;
  • Cost reduction due to efficient use of fertilizer;
  • Less nutrient runoff;
  • Optimized crop yield due effective irrigation.

Surface drip irrigation

The drip lines of ´surface drip irrigation´ are constructed on, or several centimetres under, the surface. Construction will be combined with sowing and planting. At the end of the season, before the start of the harvest , the drip lines will be removed.

Subsurface drip irrigation

Subsurface drip irrigation can continuously stay in the field because of the depth of construction. The lines are placed under the general plowing depth (± 40 -50 cm – surface level) and have an estimated lifetime of 15 to 20 years. Water and fertilizer will directly be irrigated at the root zone, the capillary rise of the soil finishes the job.

Sprinkler irrigation

The stored water can also be used in combination with traditional irrigation, for example sprinkling with a reel. Traditional irrigation uses a bigger volume of water in a shorter term of time than e.g. drip irrigation.

Use of traditional irrigation has multiple benefits:

  • Low investment costs due the use of existing irrigation equipment;
  • Applicable to all cultivation sites;
  • Applicable to all crops;
  • Applicable at any given moment.

Subirrigation and real-time groundwater control

Subirrigation is a way of irrigation with use of the existing tile drains. Instead of discharging rainwater, subirrigation uses the drain characteristics for infiltration of water in the soil. The drains are perpendicular linked on a main drain which is connected with a collection well. The system can be controlled with your own computer to regulate the groundwater level. Hereby, optimal user options are offered.

Real-time control of the groundwater level is possible with the use of telemetric devices. Based on the groundwater level, the salt concentration and discharge, choices can be made. Herewith, opportunities are offered to look beyond the apparent surface water level and make use of soil moisture conditions.

The use of subirrigation offers the following benefits:

  • Low investment costs by using the existing drains;
  • Optimal soil moisture conditions by holding the groundwater level;
  • Active effect on the groundwater level at your plot.

Multiple purposes

Besides irrigation, stored water may serve also for cattle drinking and industrial purposes. The water can be made available in a manner that suits these different uses, e.g. though a (gravitational) piping system, in a reservoir, or through various other options. The use for cattle drinking and industrial water can use the following benefits:

  • Freshwater self-sufficiency;
  • Suitable for all different uses;
  • Suitable at any desired moment.
